ARTISTS IN FOCUS <strong>2024</strong><br />

Ghaleb Hawila, Arabic Calligraphy Artist, born <strong>in</strong> 1992 <strong>in</strong><br />

Borj el Chemali, Tyre, south of Lebanon. He studied Graphic<br />

Design as an undergraduate and then went on to study the<br />

classical art of Arabic calligraphy with acclaimed masters.<br />

Fasc<strong>in</strong>ated <strong>by</strong> the endless possibilities of this timeless art, Ghaleb<br />

seeks to approach it with a new eye. His work comes from deep<br />

understand<strong>in</strong>g of Middle-Eastern heritage, spiritual paths, and<br />

cont<strong>in</strong>uous search for orig<strong>in</strong>, cause and effect. His work “Nuqta”<br />

participated <strong>in</strong> The Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial 8th edition 2018,<br />

and then <strong>in</strong> 2020 at the French Institution <strong>in</strong> Beirut. His work on<br />

streets is now spread between the UK and Beirut and participated <strong>in</strong><br />

a number of collective exhibitions. His work was also showcased <strong>in</strong><br />

the Urban Art Biennale <strong>in</strong> Germany <strong>in</strong> 2018 and at the Dubai Opera<br />

<strong>in</strong> 2021 with the Khawla Art and Culture Foundation.<br />
