Te Aratai College inspiring diverse learners<br />
Te Aratai College has a clear focus – to meet the<br />
individual needs of every learner in a safe, caring<br />
environment. Te Aratai College is a place where<br />
every learner is known and valued as an individual<br />
and where whānau-school relationships matter.<br />
From 1954 and the opening of Linwood High<br />
School, to <strong>2024</strong> and our first full year as Te Aratai<br />
College, our kura continues its proud history of<br />
serving its diverse community.<br />
We remain a truly community school, in the<br />
community and of the community. Our large and<br />
diverse catchment contributes to a richness that<br />
reflects Aotearoa-New Zealand’s current identity and<br />
prepares our learners to be active, global citizens.<br />
We have a vibrant, globally-rich culture that<br />
creates a stable, connected learning and social<br />
environment. All our learners therefore can expect<br />
to be challenged, enriched and supported to reach<br />
personalised excellence. With this, they develop<br />
core attributes that will ensure their success<br />
throughout life.<br />

- language, culture and identity - is affirmed.<br />
Enhancing the mana and dignity of the individual<br />
is at the heart of Te Aratai College inspiring our<br />
diverse learners to be their best person. We focus<br />
on personalised success through a pathwayed<br />
curriculum, whereby learners progressively<br />
self-manage and direct their learning pathway<br />
- university, polytechnics and the workforce -<br />
reflecting our name gifted to us by Ngāi Tūāhuriri:<br />
Te Aratai College, Pathway to the Sea.<br />

The Christian Education Network<br />
Working together for the good of students and<br />
families has been a successful recipe for Christian<br />
Integrated Schools in Christchurch.<br />
The Christian Education Network has been in<br />
existence for over ten years. Aidanfield Christian<br />
School, Emmanuel Christian School, Hillview<br />
Christian School, and Middleton Grange School<br />
decided in 2005 that there was much to be<br />
gained by working together cooperatively. They<br />
recognised opportunities to share successful<br />
teaching practice, curriculum development<br />
initiatives across a wide spectrum of school<br />
operations as well as cooperatively strengthening<br />
their special Christian Character. They recognised<br />
that their ability to serve students and families was<br />
greatly enhanced by working together in a close<br />
and trusting relationship.<br />
The success of the network has seen other schools<br />
wanting to join in. Early in the piece Rangiora<br />
New Life School became part of the network. The<br />
schools joined together to support the genesis of<br />
Ashburton Christian School and also culminated<br />
in with the opening of Rolleston Christian School<br />
in 2015.<br />
The schools have developed interlocking<br />
enrolment schemes which assists in providing<br />
transparent pathways in Christian education from<br />
new entrant through to Year 13.<br />
A further strength has been a cooperative<br />
engagement with the Ministry of Education<br />
who have been pivotal in assisting the network’s<br />
successful development.<br />
Te Aratai College Open Days<br />
Thursday 23rd May, Friday 24th May, <strong>2024</strong><br />
These will run during the kura day. This is an opportunity for whānau to bring their tamariki/<br />
rangatahi in for a small guided tour and to see our kura in action. Whānau must book these<br />
visits by contacting our taupaepae-reception.<br />

Te Aratai College Open Evening<br />
Tuesday 28th May, 4.30pm - 5.30pm and 6pm - 7pm<br />
These sessions will start promptly at 4.30pm and at 6pm, with Principal, Maria Lemalie<br />
addressing our visitors, followed by a guided tour of the kura, connecting with ākonga,<br />
kaiako, our cultural narrative and all that Te Aratai College has to offer. Everyone is welcome.<br />
