The warehouse complex is actually a city within the city,<br />

a unique, historic complex of warehouse and storehouse<br />

blocks. A stroll through this impressive area of red-brick<br />

buildings in Wilhemine style brings to life the world of<br />

Hanse merchants and warehouse owners.<br />

The walking tour begins at the Baumwall underground<br />

station. Cross the street to Niederbaumbrücke and<br />

the western end of the Speicherstadt, the spit of land<br />

known as Kehrwiederspitze, site of the Hanseatic<br />

Trade Center, a complex of four office buildings built<br />

between 1992–2002. Follow the street Am Sandtorkai<br />

until the warehouse marked Block L on the left, home<br />

of SPiCy’S GEWÜrZMUSEUM, a hands-on museum<br />

presenting the exciting and aromatic world of spices.<br />

The SPEiCHErSTaDTMUSEUM will be moving to this<br />

location in the course of 2011.<br />

Experience the eventful history of the warehouse complex<br />

in authentic surroundings or participate in a typical<br />

tea-tasting procedure. Behind Block L turn left onto<br />

Sandbrücke towards the warehouse marked Block D.<br />
