WalKing ToUR of ÖvelgÖnne<br />
reminder that the motorway runs directly underneath this<br />
tranquil scene into the new Elbe tunnel. Upon reaching<br />
the ventilator house turn into the narrow pass to capture<br />
the other-worldly charm of the carefully restored CaP-<br />
TainS’ anD PiLoTS’ HoUSES on Övelgönner Weg.<br />
A short walk takes you to the countless stairs of the<br />
Himmelsleiter (stairway to heaven) leading up to<br />
the Elbchaussee high above the Elbe riverbank. The<br />
Elbchaussee runs past many impressive estates and<br />
offers grand views of the Elbe for close to 10 kilometres.<br />
Walking towards town turn onto Schulberg back down<br />
to the waterfront. Now is a good time to join the other<br />
beachcombers at the STranDPErLE until the last ferry<br />
departs from Neumühlen pier.<br />
