(five thi" novices a chance to<br />
demonstrate their abilities this<br />
Thursday in a special<br />
Involvement Contest,<br />
For the first time those<br />
surfers who have never won an<br />
award in a surfing contest will<br />
be matched in four divisions <strong>of</strong><br />
major competition Applicants<br />
may register in advance by<br />
eonlactins Don Pileggi at the<br />
Recreation Department or<br />
afttM- 3:30 Thursday afternoon.<br />
The contest will take place<br />
on the Surfing Beach, at 7th st.<br />
The girl's division will be open<br />
to all young ladies from 15<br />
years down. The boy's division<br />
is for boyt aged 13 and 14,<br />
Eleven and 12-yenr-old boys<br />
will compete in the midget<br />
division, with those under 10<br />
eornprisinB the sandflea<br />
division<br />
Trophies will be awarded to<br />
the winners <strong>of</strong> each heat in all<br />
four divisions. The winner and<br />
runner-up <strong>of</strong> each final heat<br />
will also receive trophies.<br />
This event is surely a<br />
welcome one for the beginning<br />
surfers in our community.<br />
They finally will have the<br />
opportunity to enter a formal<br />
competition without the<br />
handicap <strong>of</strong> experience. <strong>On</strong>ly a<br />
large tryout can indicate<br />
enough interest to make this an<br />
annual affair,<br />

are cautioned by the Division<br />
<strong>of</strong> Fish, Game and Shell<br />
Fisheries against starting too<br />
early.<br />
An earlier advisory on rail,<br />
woodcock and set duck<br />
regulations had stated that<br />
starting time for these species<br />
was one half hour before<br />
sunrise.<br />
Since that advisory. New<br />
Jersey has adopted a duck<br />
season based on the point<br />
system which stresses duck<br />
identification To enable<br />
hunters to identify the various<br />
species and thus abide by these<br />
regulations, a starting time <strong>of</strong><br />
sunrise to sunset based on<br />
eastern standard time has been<br />
set, not only on waterfowl but<br />
all migratory birds. This later<br />
regulation supersedes the<br />
earlier announcement and rail<br />
bird hunting will be limited to (<br />
