Definitions inspired by the work <strong>of</strong>:<br />

►usually used to denote the physical characteristics or<br />

elements <strong>of</strong> an individual’s personality that are found attractive<br />

by another person (i.e. interesting, sensually pleasing, physically<br />

attractive)<br />

►our personal preferences vary with regard to what is “sexy” as<br />

demonstrated through media images, advertising, movies, etc.<br />

►might be used to illustrate physical attributes (i.e. “looking<br />

sexy”) , feelings (i.e. “feeling sexy”) or a state <strong>of</strong> mind / being<br />

(i.e. “being sexy”)<br />

►the ways in which human beings experience and express<br />

ourselves as sexual beings – our “sexual-self-image”<br />

►awareness <strong>of</strong> ourselves as female or male, the way one feels<br />

about him/herself as a man or as a woman and the way s/he<br />

communicates these feelings to the outside world<br />

►our capacity for sexual experiences and responses including<br />

our own sexual feelings related to the emotional, physical,<br />

psychological and societal aspects <strong>of</strong> being women and men<br />

►not limited to intercourse or reproductive acts<br />

►also includes acts shared between partners such as hugging,<br />

cuddling, kissing, massage, masturbation, touching, petting, oral<br />

sex, anal sex, etc.<br />
