Chapter Report suhmittal requirements!
Chopter 6 held its foll 2009 meeting ot its regulor venue
of Rocky's ll in McKees Rocks, PA. We were pleosed to
welcome new members ond visitors: Lloyd Croft, KA3MSE,
Bob McCloskey, W3RJM, ond his son, Rob, W3RTM.
Speciol guests were Don Kunst, W3LNE, ond his son,
Gorrison, KB3LEZ, who drove over four hours io ottend
our meeting ond heor their fother ond grondfother speok
obout his eorly doys in rodio. The visit wos kept o secret
from our speoker, Art Kunst, W3WM ond his wife, Sylbio,
KB3HYV. Needless to soy, they were quite surprised to see
their son ond grondson show up for the meeting.
Art Kunst, W3WM, spoke obout his eorly interest in
rodio os o young school boy growing up in Chicogo during
the Greot Depression. He reloted teoching hlmself the
Three generations ol Kunst Family operators at Chapter 6 Meeting.
code ond the terror of toking the rodio exom before the
Rodio lnspector in Chicogo. He olso told of the difficulties
encountered in obtoining ports with little or no money during
the ,l930s, ond the bios of some old timers who held
lower closs licenses thon he did ot such o young oge.
Art's eorly interest in rodio would go on to serve him well
in both the militory ond civilion sectors in his odult life,
ond he remoins octive to this doy.
