Bankruptcy<br />

Seyfarth Shaw’s attorneys have represented virtually every major constituency in<br />

bankruptcy cases—including corporate debtors, secured and unsecured creditors, bankruptcy<br />

trustees, and creditors’ committees—in matters <strong>of</strong> bankruptcy and bankruptcy<br />

alternatives, including restructurings and workouts, and creditors’ rights. On behalf <strong>of</strong><br />

creditors, we provide counsel in matters <strong>of</strong> adequate protection and use <strong>of</strong> cash collateral,<br />

stay litigation, preference defense, fraudulent conveyance, and executory contract and<br />

lease litigation. Our attorneys also represent debtors in all phases <strong>of</strong> Chapter 7 and Chapter<br />

11 proceedings.<br />

We are experienced in all aspects <strong>of</strong> alternatives to bankruptcy, including restructurings<br />

and workouts, compositions, assignments for benefit <strong>of</strong> creditors, bulk sales, and nonbankruptcy<br />

liquidations. We represent clients from a broad range <strong>of</strong> industries, with extensive<br />

experience in railroad reorganizations.<br />

Commercial Litigation<br />

Seyfarth Shaw’s Litigation Practice Group has 170 attorneys in nine <strong>of</strong>fices across the<br />

United States. We <strong>of</strong>fer a full service commercial and corporate litigation practice, but have<br />

particular experience in the following areas: construction, government contracts, trade<br />

secrets and unfair competition, consumer class actions, intellectual property, and securities.<br />

Many <strong>of</strong> the Group’s attorneys are recognized for their subject matter expertise in their<br />

respective practice areas, both locally and nationally.<br />

Beyond our skills as practitioners, we are tenacious litigators who work single-mindedly<br />

and creatively to solve our clients’ business disputes. We make our clients’ problems our<br />

Construction<br />

As one <strong>of</strong> the few nationally ranked law firms with extensive experience in the<br />

complex field <strong>of</strong> construction law, as well as hands-on experience in the construction<br />

industry itself, we know that the hardhat is as important as the briefcase when it comes<br />

to resolving business disputes. We represent clients involved in all phases <strong>of</strong> design and<br />

construction, including general contractors, subcontractors, architects, engineers,<br />

design-builders, project owners and developers, state and municipal entities, materials<br />

suppliers, educational and healthcare institutions and lenders and insurance companies,<br />
