Kathrein was the only German exhibitor at this year’s Informatica in Havana
with the main topics relating to information technology, information means
and networks for data transmission. The German ambassador in Cuba,
Dr. Bernd Wulffen, who paid a visit at the largest communications exhibition
in South America, was impressed with the supply of high-tech products from
Rosenheim. Wulffen was extremely excited, that a company like Kathrein
realised the chances in the Cuban market, which reflects in a market share
of near 100%.
Above all, the know-how, high product quality as well as professional order
management convinced the state customer in Cuba, Copextel, to hand over
the entire national supply of antennas to the hands of the antenna
specialists in Rosenheim.
In regards to the strong efforts of Cuba (with a population of 12 million,
115,000 m2 area) to continue pushing the tourism in the country, it is
necessary to make a suitable infrastructure for the entire telecommunication.
All important tourist centres should be supplied with antennas by the end
exhibition in Las Vegas
New products in the area of digital, terrestrial television set the
activities at the world-wide largest specialist exhibition of the
American association of broadcasting companies, which Kathrein has
repeatedly participated in together with the subsidiary companies,
Kathrein Inc. Scala Division and SIRA, Milan.
The NAB 2002 has proven to be an important platform for presenting
innovations in the area of transmitting and receiving antenna
technology to specialists and thus emphasising the competence as
a system and full provider.
In the North American region, the Kathrein group of companies
manufactures and sells predominately high-tech products for television
and radio equipment, along with components and antennas for
radio networks and communication systems from Medford, Oregon.
This opens the doors to the markets in Indonesia, India, Nigeria and
Taiwan from America. Contracts have already been signed and sealed
for radio, transmitting and antenna systems in this new market.
TELEXPO 2002 exhibition in Sao Paulo
The Kathrein subsidiary company, KATHREIN Mobilcom Brazil, presented the
newest products from the area of mobile communications in the framework
of a Bavarian shared exhibition stand at this year’s TELEXPO exhibition in Sao
Paulo. The international specialised audience was highly interested in the latest
antenna technology from the parent company in Rosenheim, as well as the
innovative antenna products from the area of indoor distribution.
After the introduction of the GSM standard in Brazil, telephoning will also be
possible with European GSM cellular phones in Brazil as of 2003. Kathrein
is well positioned for this emerging mobile communication network with the
product array. The network operators and system providers in Brazil, like
Ericsson and Nokia, are already for the most part supplied with antennas by
local production from Sao Paulo.
The market leadership with over 40 percent of the market shares in the mobile
communication sector in Brazil also proves to be an important springboard for
the South American region.
