The new processing system from Kathrein

At this year’s ANGA Cable in Cologne, the most important specialist
exhibition for cable, satellite and multimedia of the Association of
Private Cable Network Operators, Kathrein presented its new products
from the areas of satellite receiving technology and broadband
networks.
The ANGA Cable has developed in the past years in to the most
important specialist exhibition in the area of cable, satellite and
multimedia due to the continuously increasing exhibitors and visitors.
In 2002, Dieter Heitmair, Kathrein product director for broadband
communication systems, quoted a clearly increasing interest of
visitors in comparison to the previous years. The accompanying
specialist presentations and discussions made a growing international
orientation of the exhibition visible.
The main topics included analogue and digital satellite receiving
systems, set-top boxes, modems, possibilities for retrofitting CATV

cable networks and the conversion of in-house
networks into multimedia compatible transmitting
systems.
At the Kathrein exhibiting stand, the synergy effect
between Kathrein and Grundig was reflected for
the first time in the exhibition area. Grundig,
which Prof. Dr. Kathrein owns 89% of its shares
and has the option for the remaining 11%, and
Kathrein shared the stand area. Each company
presented a separate company-specific presentation,
while sharing the interior for service and
meeting purposes.
Many informative and interesting conversations
about the future of the cable networks in Germany
and the potential in the competition with other
networks could be held with cable network
operators and specialist technicians.
Because of this positive result, Kathrein will also participate at this
exhibtion in the upcoming year.
Numerous visitors visited the Kathrein stand, along with the FDP
party leader, Dr. Guido Westerwelle see left in the picture above and
the technical director of the Bavarian Radio Broadcasting, director
Herbert Tillmann, who were informed about new technical products
by Prof. Dr. Kathrein.
