Implementing policy
across Rexam
Each of Rexam’s businesses have been rolling
out our Group policies and procedures using
individually developed strategies relevant to
their own structures and cultures. To help our
businesses we have also created a procedural
document on ‘Implementing global policy’.
Below are just a few examples of some of the
work that has been carried out.
& Asia (BCEA)
Our BCEA business Sector chose to use their
developed and dedicated HR function to roll
out the new Rexam policies (and re-iterate
existing policies) to each of their businesses.
BCEA has regular sector HR meetings to
discuss relevant topics and initiatives. In recent
meetings several presentations have been
held to run through the various Rexam policies
In part, the presentation hoped to raise
awareness and ensure the correct level of
priority is given to policies on business agendas,
but also to look at how Rexam can continue
to develop, roll out and measure the success
of policy implementation.
The Group wide strategy of allocating one
‘National Coordinator’ for each country in
which we operate, was also presented to
the HR Managers, followed by a request for
confirmation of support and buy in to the
strategy. The purpose of electing the national
co-ordinators is to build on the existing policies
making them relevant to each country and
the correspondingly associated issues,
followed by further translation into local
dialects/languages and further roll out and
communication on a local level with the hope
of further increasing support and awareness.
As a follow up, the policies discussion was
then carried over to the next meeting as a
means to re-emphasise the process once
again and to ensure that all were present
and ‘bought in’ to the strategy and action
plan agreed.
POLICY IMPLENTATION
Also covered in previous meetings was a
specialist additional focus on the Code of
Conduct and the Rexam Whistleblowers
policy (which outlines Rexam’s externally
hosted ‘Raise Your Concern’ helpline that has
been set up for any employee who feels the
