PREFOLD DIAPERS
Chinese Diapers
100% Chinese cotton twill is uniquely long wearing and durable,
and for this reason is the preferred diaper of better diaper
services . “Chinese Diaper” has become a catch phrase, and some
diapers from Pakistan, India and other places in the world are
loosely called Chinese diapers – even though they aren’t really
the same . Chinese diapers are the most economical prefold
choice. They “quilt” as they’re laundered, making them very
absorbent . (Before laundering, they’ll look thin and flat,
like linen napkins.) In the absence of chlorine bleach, they’ll
often last for years . People have told us that our Chinese diapers
are softer than many; this is because our supplier buys higher
quality, softer yarn than the norm. In addition, he has worked with
the same factory and mill for over a decade and his partner lives
there; therefore he is aware of the working conditions (which he
says are good) and the textile source . You can choose 6 or 8 ply
diapers. Most people choose 8 ply infant, which will usually last
9 months or more in a velcro cover; 6 ply will be less bulky, but
less absorbent. In the standard size, consider the 8 ply to be a
super-soaker toddler size. It may be too thick for a child under 20
lbs . or a petite child . You can buy samples to see which is right
for your baby . Our white diapers are bleached with approximately
90% peroxide, 10% chlorine .
Traditional Birdseye or Flannel Prefolds
These two classic diapers offer a less bulky alternative to the Chinese diapers, in addition to being
home-made in the U.S.A. Each has an inner center panel of 100% cotton terry, for maximum
absorbency . Choose unbleached flannel, which is thick and soft; or birdseye (a soft, woven fabric;
the small, diamond shaped pattern on the weave gives it it’s name). The newborn size should last
about 3 months; the standard size, for 2 or more years. Approximate dimensions after laundering:
12”x14” newborn; 13”x17” standard .

Organic Prefolds
The two outer layers of this premium diaper are made
of silky soft, organic Egyptian cotton knit, while the two
layers of organic French cotton terry inside the center panel add plenty of

Ultra-Absorbent
Hemp Prefolds
These unique diapers have a soft and fuzzy
feel, and are made of 55% hemp, 45%
cotton . Our supplier notes that hemp fibers
are 1/2 again as absorbent as cotton, and
more durable for long life . This means more
absorbency for the same amount of thickness;
in fact, these are probably the most
absorbent prefolds available. Hemp is
generally considered to be naturally organic, as
it is a tough fiber grown in areas inhospitable to
pests . The infant size can be used for at least
9 months and some customers report using
them well into the first year (the flip side is
that they may be too big for a small newborn) .
Oversized to allow for up to 25% shrinkage .
Follow washing instructions for unbleached
diapers before use . Dimensions given are after
