� Adult & Junior Rules �<br />
REGULATIONS THAT APPLY<br />
TO ADULTS AND JUNIORS<br />
1. <strong>USTA</strong> members who reside in Nebraska and Pottawattamie<br />
County, Iowa, shall be eligible for ranking. “Resident” means any<br />
person whose legal residence has been within the district for at<br />
least thirty days during the ranking year.<br />
2. Formats of matches in Nebraska sanctioned and Nebraska<br />
authorized matches. Only the results of Nebraska sanctioned or<br />
Nebraska authorized matches using the following formats shall be<br />
considered for ranking:<br />
(a) Best of three tie-break sets.<br />
(b) Best of three tie-break sets with a Match Tie-Break in lieu of the<br />
deciding final set;<br />
(c) For Boys’ and Girls’ 10 and 12 Divisions only: The formats<br />
described in subparagraphs 2a. and 2b. and the best of three short<br />
sets; best of three short sets with a Match Tie-Break in lieu of the<br />
deciding final set.<br />
(d) For Doubles only: The formats described in subparagraphs 2a.<br />
and 2b. and the best of three short sets; best of three short sets<br />
with a Match Tie-Break in lieu of the deciding final set, and 8-game<br />
pro sets.<br />
3. Matches count for ranking only in the division in which the match<br />
was played.<br />
4. A player who fails to play to <strong>com</strong>pletion a tournament for a reason<br />
other than illness, injury, or personal emergency shall not<br />
receive credit toward the minimum tournament participation<br />
requirement.<br />
5. In divisions in which fewer than five tournaments are held, the<br />
ranking <strong>com</strong>mittee may reduce the number of tournaments that<br />
must be played in order to qualify for ranking.<br />
6. Nebraska Ranking Year: Oct. 1 to Sept. 30.<br />
Adult Ranking Regulations<br />
(Open, 5.0, 4.5, 4.0, 3.5, 3.0; and Mixed)<br />
1. Minimum tournament participation requirement. A player or doubles<br />
team must play in at least three sanctioned tournaments. At<br />
least one must be outside the player’s metropolitan area. Only<br />
Omaha and Lincoln are defined as metropolitan areas. The Omaha<br />
metropolitan area is defined as Douglas and Sarpy counties; and<br />
the Lincoln metropolitan area is defined as Lancaster County.<br />
2. In divisions in which fewer than five tournaments are held, the<br />
ranking <strong>com</strong>mittee may waive the requirement of playing a tournament<br />
outside the metropolitan area.<br />
Junior Ranking Regulations<br />
(Boys’/Girls’ 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 Divisions)<br />
The New System is Points Per Round. (PRR) In this system a player<br />
receives a set amount of points in each tournament that he/she<br />
participates in according to the highest level of the draw that the<br />
player attains.<br />
Regulations:<br />
1. A player must win a round to receive any points for the tournament.<br />
Byes do not qualify as wins.<br />
2. Withdrawals and walkovers qualify as wins for the advancing<br />
player and earn PPR.<br />
3. Retirements qualify as wins for the advancing player and earn<br />
PPR.<br />
4. A player who is defaulted from a tournament for code violations<br />
under the PPS or misconduct forfeits any points accumulated during<br />
the tournament.<br />
5. Annual ranking will be calculated based on a players 5 Best<br />
Tournaments played within Nebraska during the calendar year,<br />
January through December (i.e. A player plays 10 <strong>USTA</strong> sanctioned<br />
tournaments within Nebraska, the PPR System will take that<br />
players 5 best tournament results based on how he or she finishes<br />
in a draw.)<br />
There will be two levels of tournaments: Level 1 is Endorsements<br />
and Team Events. Level 2 is all other NTA Tournaments.<br />
6. At the end of the ranking year, a Standing List will be produced<br />
based on the players’ 5 Best Tournaments.<br />
7. A player must participate in a minimum of three tournaments in<br />
the same age division and event. One of the tournaments must be<br />
