Dear alumni and friends of Saint Joseph’s University,
Last fall, Saint Joseph’s announced the public phase of With Faith and Strength to Dare:
The Campaign for Saint Joseph’s University, the most ambitious fundraising initiative in our storied history.
Even as we celebrated at the kickoff gala, the Campaign had already enjoyed great success. Initial
efforts put us well on our way toward achieving our extraordinary goals. As you can see from the
information in this report, we continue to garner generous and broad-based support, and I am
pleased to share that we have raised 70 percent of our $150 million goal. On behalf of all members
of the Saint Joseph’s community, I thank the key alumni and donors who have provided the
Campaign with such tremendous momentum.
This past year, we broke ground on one of the Campaign’s most visible initiatives, the renovation
and expansion of the Fieldhouse. The recruiting advantages this will give Saint Joseph’s promise to
translate into even greater visibility for the University’s athletics and academic programs.
Among the Campaign’s primary academic initiatives is the John R. Post ’60 Academic Center, a truly
modern facility that will give Saint Joseph’s students and faculty a state-of-the-art place to research,
study and gather. As you’ll read in these pages, the generosity of John and Maryanne Post and others
has brought this priority well within view. Fr. Lannon’s vision of recognized preeminence has
never been closer.
Of course, the centerpiece of the Campaign is support for the acquisition of the James J. Maguire ’58 Campus. It is a transformational tract of land
that will enhance the student experience, as well as strengthen the University’s Catholic and Jesuit identity. The campus infuses Saint Joseph’s with
untold and unparalleled possibilities.
For all of our success, it is vital to realize that much more of your support is needed in order to complete this critical campaign. Indeed, in many ways
our most important efforts are yet to come. A Saint Joseph’s University education, after all, is in high demand, a reflection of the stunning institutional
progress the Maguire Campus acquisition represents. The enormous support so many have shown for the Campaign has been very heartening to me.
