Ingo Barkow<br />
Ingo Barkow works as a senior systems eng<strong>in</strong>eer and assistant IT coord<strong>in</strong>ator <strong>in</strong> the<br />
Technology-Based Assessment (TBA) project at the German <strong>Institut</strong>e for <strong>International</strong><br />
<strong>Education</strong>al Research (DIPF) <strong>in</strong> Frankfurt. In this project he is responsible for the plann<strong>in</strong>g,<br />
design and implementation of the network <strong>in</strong>frastructure and server farm. Furthermore he<br />
consults project partners <strong>in</strong> questions of test<strong>in</strong>g <strong>in</strong>frastructure and resource plann<strong>in</strong>g. His<br />
special <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude virtualisation technologies, server farms and storage arrays for<br />
database servers. For several years Ingo Barkow was the manag<strong>in</strong>g director of an IT tra<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g<br />
company <strong>in</strong> Wurzburg where he was responsible for the plann<strong>in</strong>g and organisation of courses<br />
and also worked as a tra<strong>in</strong>er and senior consultant for the <strong>in</strong>frastructure and database<br />
management. He holds two Master degrees, <strong>in</strong> Computer Science <strong>in</strong> Economy as well as <strong>in</strong><br />
Social History and English, <strong>in</strong> addition to several <strong>in</strong>ternational IT-Tra<strong>in</strong>er certifications. With<strong>in</strong><br />
the TBA project he is responsible for two subprojects. In the NEPS study he coord<strong>in</strong>ates the<br />
work package 13b - Data Warehouse. He and his team will be design<strong>in</strong>g and programm<strong>in</strong>g the<br />
NEPS Data Warehouse platform. In the PIAAC study he is responsible for IT service and support<br />
as <strong>International</strong> IT-Coord<strong>in</strong>ator. His research <strong>in</strong>terests <strong>in</strong>clude anonymiz<strong>in</strong>g technologies with<strong>in</strong><br />
data warehouses, quality management and evaluation <strong>in</strong> education, historical educational<br />
research, the <strong>in</strong>fluence of sociological components like further develop<strong>in</strong>g processes on<br />
education and didactic analyses of classical English Literature.<br />
Helge E<strong>in</strong>spanier<br />
Helge E<strong>in</strong>spanier is senior system adm<strong>in</strong>istrator <strong>in</strong> the Technology-Based Assessment (TBA)<br />
project at the German <strong>Institut</strong>e for <strong>International</strong> <strong>Education</strong>al Research (DIPF) <strong>in</strong> Frankfurt. In this<br />
project he is responsible for the TBA web server and the network <strong>in</strong>frastructure. Furthermore he<br />
supports the development of virtual mach<strong>in</strong>es for the PIAAC study. His special <strong>in</strong>terests are<br />
harden<strong>in</strong>g L<strong>in</strong>ux operat<strong>in</strong>g systems and network security like Snort and L<strong>in</strong>ux Firewalls. For<br />
several years Helge E<strong>in</strong>spanier worked at several <strong>in</strong>ternet service providers as a technician and<br />
configured W<strong>in</strong>dows and Unix based systems. He is certified for several systems such as L<strong>in</strong>ux<br />
(LPI 1 & 2), Microsoft (MCSA), VMware (VCP), ITIL and CEH (Certified Ethical Hacker).<br />
Gabriele Gissler<br />
Gabriele Gissler works as an <strong>in</strong>formation scientist <strong>in</strong> the Technology Based Assessment (TBA)<br />
project at the German <strong>Institut</strong>e for <strong>International</strong> <strong>Education</strong>al Research (DIPF) <strong>in</strong> Frankfurt. She<br />
has a master degree <strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>formation science and a diploma <strong>in</strong> media management. Before<br />
jo<strong>in</strong><strong>in</strong>g DIPF and the TBA project <strong>in</strong> 2008, Gabriele Gissler ga<strong>in</strong>ed experience <strong>in</strong> conceptual<br />
design, project management and customer support <strong>in</strong> a web development and a public<br />
relations agency. She was also responsible for coord<strong>in</strong>at<strong>in</strong>g project-related software<br />
development. With<strong>in</strong> the TBA project Gabriele Gissler is responsible for plann<strong>in</strong>g and<br />
supervis<strong>in</strong>g the item development process <strong>in</strong> the PIAAC study. She gives technical support<br />
dur<strong>in</strong>g the test development as well as the translation and delivery process and takes care of
