The first sight of Machu Picchu<br />
Machu Picchu should be on everyone’s ‘must visit’ list even if you do it the easy way<br />
by train from Cusco. Our tour leader and guide, Silvia, ably supported by the whole<br />
Adventure Company team and local porters, very much enhanced our trip to Peru by<br />
her enthusiasm and her extensive knowledge of the Inca and Spanish history of her<br />
country.<br />
The Peruvian Amazon<br />
Our group of four extended our trip to Peru with a three day Amazon extension. We<br />
took an internal flight to Puerto Maldonado on the Madre de Dios River. A journey<br />
by river, foot and finally paddling across the lake in a canoe which took us to the<br />
Sandoval Lake Lodge.<br />
Dawn and sunset guided tours by experienced naturalist guides by boat around the<br />
lake were definitely the best way to see both the forest and lake wildlife. Additional<br />
treks into the rainforest by day and night gave us an insight into the ecology of the<br />
area.<br />
We ended our trek at The Sandoval Lake. And what a great way it was to end our<br />
Peruvian adventure.<br />
