ABSOLUTE ART LONDON THE SUMMER EXHIBITION The Royal Academy’s annual Summer Exhibition is the world’s largest open submission contemporary art exhibition, and is now in full swing until 22 August 2010. Now in its 242nd year, the exhibition continues the tradition of showcasing work by both emerging and established artists in all media including painting, sculpture, photography, printmaking, architecture and film. This year’s co-ordinators, Royal Academicians Stephen Chambers and David Chipperfield, have selected works for the exhibition around the theme of ‘Raw’. The Summer Exhibition attracts a high volume of entrants each year with over 11,000 entries this year. The majority of selected works are on sale, offering visitors an unrivalled opportunity to purchase original artwork by 70 ABSOLUTE high profile and up-and-coming artists. As is the custom the exhibition features work by Academicians and Honorary Academicians and include new work by artists such as Antoni Tapies, Ed Ruscha, Michael Craig-Martin, Gillian Ayres and Tracey Emin. J’ADORE ART! New art gallery in Brighton to feature Bob Dylan prints After running a property business for twenty-fi ve years, John and Karen Menetrier are opening an independent, family run, art gallery to sell contemporary art in Brighton. John and Karen have collected art for many years and want to turn their love of art into a new lifestyle. J’Adore Art opens on July 4th 2010 at 11.00 am with Bob Dylan’s latest limited edition release of prints. Whilst travelling on tour between 1989-1992, great American singer, songwriter and artist Bob Dylan created a collection of drawings that were published in a book entitled ‘Drawn Blank series’ in 1994. These expressive works capture Dylan’s chance encounters and observations. A carefully selected collection of Dylan’s paintings have been chosen to be published as Signed Limited Edition Graphics to enable collectors, and art lovers throughout the world, access to Bob Dylan’s works of art. Along with Bob Dylan’s prints, other contemporary artists that will include: Adam Barsby, Daisy Bowman, Louise Dear, Caroline Shotton, Keith Proctor, Drew Darcy, Sarah Graham, Simon Claridge and John Waterhouse to name just a few. They will also stock sculptures by Lorenzo Quinn and Jennine Parker, and will be the stockists of Tim Cotterill’s ‘Frogman’ collection in Brighton. Each Frogman sculpture is created in a limited edition along with his signature on every sculpture.
