AKK-<strong>IGES</strong> New Climate Risk Management Project<br />
5. Relevance of project scope<br />
Project scope and expected outcome have direct relevance with activities implemented. The main<br />
outcomes of the project are:<br />
� Community based disaster preparedness plan / risk reduction plan;<br />
� After getting training and seeds, community people have cultivated Aman paddy and have got<br />
good yields in the first year of the project;<br />
� Community people know how to get and preserve safe drinking water;<br />
� The practice of raising the homestead has replicated even to the non-beneficiaries;<br />
� Government and related stakeholders have committed to provide support to the climate risk<br />
reduction activities. DRRO committed to include climate risk reduction work in government<br />
development plan;<br />
� Awareness have built up among community beneficiaries about climate change and preparedness<br />
to extreme events;<br />
� Skills and knowledge on adaptation measures have reached greatly to the project beneficiaries;<br />
� Community mobilization was facilitated by CCMC members;<br />
� Local Government departments such as Union Parishad, Upazilla offices were well linked to the<br />
local communities to better respond to climate related emergencies;<br />
