Dry ration Don’t have an idea how to select matching job for them. Changing of their livelihood methods time to time. Don’t have habit to deposit money Dependency Dry Ration is the most important as well as problematic issues for the Internal Displaced Persons. Some IDPs of Anuradhapura district entirely depend on dry ration though they some times engage in wage labour. At present the government has issued “dry ration” and “samurdi” for the IDPs. But few IDPs who are lived with relations didn’t receive dry ration. As an example there are 27 IDPs families in Kasamaduwa area (Mihintale DS division). Up to now they didn’t receive dry ration. Most of the IDPs don’t receive a satisfactory dry ration package of both qualitatively and quantitively. IDPs of Kabithigollewa had mentioned that can’t use some received food items under the “Lokadara”. Not only that IDPs are suffering a lot due to the late dry ration issues. Some IDPs received ration once for a 14 days. This situation can’t be seen regularly. As well as the newly couple families didn’t issue dry ration cards. There are many problems regarding the cooperative shops. Don’t have adequate amount of dry foods and qualitatively food items at the cooperative shops. Injustice, in-efficiency and authoritative powers of Managers of the cooperative shops over the IDPs. Corruptions at the cooperative shops. Lack of most essential foods like milk powder, sugar, soaps, coconut oil. High prices for food items than the other shops in general. Don’t issues bills for the dry foods in the cooperative shops which can be accept as correct. Regional Activities Programs 12
