<strong>and</strong> an interview for selected applicants.<br />

The newly established School <strong>of</strong> Performing<br />

Arts encompasses all <strong>of</strong> the course <strong>of</strong>ferings<br />

for undergraduate <strong>and</strong> graduate students<br />

within Dance, Theatre <strong>and</strong> Production.<br />

Dedicated to rigorous creative exploration<br />

in t<strong>and</strong>em with technique training <strong>and</strong> skills<br />

development across each <strong>of</strong> the disciplines,<br />

the School <strong>of</strong> Performing Arts advances<br />

the contemporary practice <strong>and</strong> creative<br />

heritage <strong>of</strong> live art through intensive, h<strong>and</strong>s<br />

on experience with teachers, artists <strong>and</strong><br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals in the field.<br />

The Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Dance is one <strong>of</strong> the preeminent<br />

courses in Australia for dance<br />

education <strong>and</strong> training <strong>and</strong> is renowned<br />

for producing outst<strong>and</strong>ing contemporary<br />

dance performers. Graduates are wellplaced<br />

to pursue pr<strong>of</strong>essional careers in<br />

Australia <strong>and</strong> overseas.<br />

The Bachelor <strong>of</strong> Dance <strong>of</strong>fers intensive<br />

specialist dance training <strong>and</strong> encourages<br />

experimentation, exploration <strong>and</strong> artistic<br />

inquiry to produce versatile, collaborative<br />

dance artists.<br />

The emphasis is on performance,<br />

choreographic practice <strong>and</strong> research so<br />

that graduates may become performers,<br />

choreographers, collaborators, teachers<br />

<strong>and</strong> artistic leaders in local, national <strong>and</strong><br />

international dance communities. The<br />

course attracts highly motivated, disciplined<br />

<strong>and</strong> creative dancers who are interested in<br />

shaping the future <strong>of</strong> the pr<strong>of</strong>ession.<br />

Support <strong>and</strong> facilities<br />

Dance at the School <strong>of</strong> Performing Arts<br />

<strong>of</strong>fers an intimate studio-theatre <strong>and</strong> five<br />

purpose-built dance studios, designed for<br />

dance <strong>and</strong> choreography. There are also<br />

video editing suites <strong>and</strong> seminar rooms for<br />

subjects such as anatomy, <strong>music</strong>, dance<br />

analysis <strong>and</strong> performance management.<br />

Dance staff include eminent teachers <strong>and</strong><br />

practising artists in contemporary dance<br />

<strong>and</strong> ballet who have worked with a variety <strong>of</strong><br />

dance companies including The Australian<br />

Ballet, West Australian Ballet, Tasdance,<br />

Dance North, Sydney Dance Company,<br />

London Festival Ballet <strong>and</strong> Rambert Dance<br />
