and suggesting ideas for what the community may want to achieve for the
i. Walkability:
Township of Tiny
The two groups were quite close in their scoring, with one rating the
community at “52” and the other at “48”. Essentially, they came up with an
identical score, but with one slightly below, and one slightly above, 50%.
Both gave a ranking of Excellent to only one question, and it was the same
for each group: Do walking Trails exist. During discussion, they felt that Tiny
Township had done a good job developing its trails, and that these provided a
foundation for future AT developments.
For the remainder of the questions there was considerable variability. Rarely
did both groups give the same score to the same question. However, in the
majority of cases, the difference was only one position, with one group
ranking a factor as Very Good and the other ranking it Fair. Both groups
selected Fair more than any other category, one group choosing that 13/25
times and the other 10/25. The group that scored 52 selected Very Good as
their response 8/25 times, while the group that scored 48 selected this only
4/25 times.
Neither group selected Very Poor, with its score of zero, often. Group 1
choose that response only three times, and for two of those indicated that the
question was not applicable. Group 2 selected it only twice. Interestingly,
each group chose Very Poor for different questions in every instance.
The five most important walkability factors selected by Group 1 (Score: 48)
were:
1. Do walking Trails exist?
2. Do sidewalks/walkways/paths exist?
3. Are sidewalks/walkways/paths well maintained?
4. Can streets be easily, safely and conveniently crossed?
5. Do printed trail guides and maps exist and are they easily accessible?
