existing pedestrian and bicycling infrastructure;<br />
� An exercise, using large scale maps <strong>of</strong> the communities <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Town</strong> <strong>of</strong><br />
<strong>Penetanguishene</strong>, <strong>Town</strong>ship <strong>of</strong> <strong>Springwater</strong>, and <strong>Town</strong>ship <strong>of</strong> <strong>Tiny</strong>, to<br />
identify their principal destinations for AT, the most important routes for<br />
AT, and particular danger areas;<br />
� An exercise for participants, in groups initially and then in plenary<br />
session, to recommend a series <strong>of</strong> next steps that their communities<br />
might undertake in order to advance AT;<br />
� Participant observations and workshop evaluation.<br />
The workshop was attended by twenty-six persons, including municipal staff,<br />
elected <strong>of</strong>ficials, volunteers, health pr<strong>of</strong>essionals, and others.<br />
In addition to participants from the three communities, there were planners<br />
from the County <strong>of</strong> Simcoe and the Midland Director <strong>of</strong> Parks and Recreation.<br />
The initial presentation <strong>of</strong> the workshop provided the participants with a<br />
common definition <strong>of</strong> Active Transportation: any form <strong>of</strong> travel undertaken by<br />
human power, and provided background information on the importance <strong>of</strong>
