1. GENERAL<br />
1.0.0-1 In accordance with the Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs), Part VI, Subpart 1, airspace may be designated or<br />
changed by amendment of the <strong>Designated</strong> <strong>Airspace</strong> <strong>Handbook</strong> under the authority delegated to the Chief of<br />
Standards, Aerodromes and Air <strong>Nav</strong>igation, by the Minister of Transport.<br />
1.0.0-2 It is requested that proposed changes, errors or omissions be brought to the attention of the Chief of Standards,<br />
Aerodromes and Air <strong>Nav</strong>igation, AARTA, Transport <strong>Canada</strong>, Ottawa ON, K1A 0N8. Military users should contact<br />
Air Traffic Management Coordination Office (ATM COORD), NAV CANADA, 4th Floor, WS421, 77 Metcalfe<br />

1.0.0-3 Requests for the designation of Class F Advisory or Restricted airspace for short duration use may be approved<br />
by NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) if time limitations preclude the normal 56-day publication cycle and the need for the<br />
airspace is adequately justified. Requests shall be forwarded to the Chief of Standards, Aerodromes and Air<br />
<strong>Nav</strong>igation, who will approve the request and coordinate the issuance of a NOTAM with the NAV CANADA<br />
International NOTAM Office.<br />
1.1 STANDARDS<br />
1.1.0-1 Abbreviations, acronyms and terminology used shall conform to the extent possible with abbreviations and<br />
acronyms published in TP14371E Transport <strong>Canada</strong> Aeronautical Information Manual (TC AIM) and in TP11958E<br />
Glossary for Pilots and Air Traffic Services Personnel.<br />
1.1.0-2 Where airspace is designated by reference to the Can/USA bdry or to any portion of this boundary, the Definition<br />
of Boundary between <strong>Canada</strong> and the United States NAD 83, as published by the International Boundary<br />
Commission, shall be used.<br />
1.1.0-3 The designation of airspace within this document applies to those portions overlying Canadian territory.<br />
Therefore, any portions of airspace overlying USA territory are excluded from the designations in this document.<br />
1.1.0-4 All airspace designated in Part 3 is excluded from within airway or fixed RNAV boundaries.<br />
1.1.0-5 Control Zones, as defined in Part 3, are excluded from all Transition Areas, Control Area Extensions and Terminal<br />
Control Areas as defined in Part 3.<br />
1.1.0-6 Class F airspace, as designated in Part 5, when active, is excluded from all airspace designated in Part 3. Unless<br />
otherwise specified, when areas of Class F airspace are inactive, the rules for the appropriate airspace apply.<br />
1.1.0-7 Where airspace, airways and fixed RNAV routes are designated by reference to a NAVAID, or to an Intxn or Fix,<br />
the coordinates used shall be listed in Part 2.<br />
1.1.0-8 When a segment of airspace has a coordinate that is located close to a <strong>Nav</strong>aid, Intersection or Aerodrome a<br />
location key for the point will be added to assist users of the DAH, to plot the airspace. Where multiple location<br />
keys could be chosen only one will be selected. Ex. (Sault Ste. Marie, ON-AD) or (Deer Lake, NL-NDB)<br />
1.1.0-9 All segments between points defining airspace boundaries are calculated as Great Circles, unless otherwise<br />
specified.<br />
1.1.0-10 Unless otherwise specified, whenever the word "mile(s)" is used in this document, it shall mean nautical mile(s).<br />
1.1.0-11 All radials used shall be in degrees magnetic, unless otherwise specified in degrees true.<br />
1.1.0-12 All coordinates shall be expressed in degrees/minutes/seconds, using the North American Datum 1983 (NAD 83).<br />
<strong>Canada</strong> has deemed NAD 83 coordinates to be equivalent to the World Geodetic System 1984 (WGS 84) for<br />
aeronautical purposes. All coordinate values are derived from the best source available. Coordinates obtained in<br />
