*** Provenance: the estate of Eardley Knollys (1902-
1991), artist, dealer and critic who ran the Storran
Gallery, Piccadilly, between 1938 and 1944. Lucy
Wertheim (1883-1971) was a prominent gallery owner
and supporter of young English talent, founding the
Twenties Group of young artists, in 1930. She was an
early promoter of Henry Moore, Christopher Wood,
John Melville and Phelan Gibb, amongst many others.
