Enterprise on Campus
Falmouth’s Incubatee Programme
offers workspace at subsidised rates
and mentoring support for graduate
and postgraduate start-ups.
In addition, the College offers Proof of Concept
awards which give students with a strong
business idea the opportunity to win up to
£2,500 to help launch their new business.
A Student Enterprise Club – joint with University
of Exeter – has also just been launched, creating
a stimulating environment for entrepreneurial
students to come together and listen to guest
speakers, attend focused workshops and
network with other business start-ups.
Providing a physical space for businesses to
come onto campus, the Tremough Innovation
Centre is planned to open in 2010.

Whether it’s working in partnership to deliver
courses, running specialist workshops, offering work
placements, providing access to specialist facilities,
collaborating on live projects or hosting special events,
Falmouth has excellent connections with a wealth of
local, national and international organisations offering
enviable opportunities for our students. Here are just a
few examples:
Newlyn Art Gallery & The Exchange: historic
art gallery with a magnificent new contemporary
exhibition space that’s the largest of its kind west
of Bristol. Tate St Ives: world-famous modern and
contemporary art gallery that’s one of the course
partners for MA Curatorial Practice. ProjectBase: a
contemporary visual arts organisation commissioning
internationally established artists to work with local
communities to present exciting and innovative projects.

Up to 70 office spaces will be available, both for
graduates starting up new businesses and local
or national businesses wishing to be located at
Tremough. “We’ve had enquiries from all over
the country, from businesses wishing to relocate
or set up new offices in the South West,” says
Jeremy Richards, Director of Innovation and
Enterprise. Shared with the University of Exeter,
the centre will provide a fantastic opportunity
for businesses wanting to work with the
expertise at both these institutions – as well as
art and performance, design and media, projects
could also include engineering, healthcare or
renewable energy.
Projects such as AIR and Dott also reflect
the College’s enterprise strategy, focusing on
how you can develop your design after study,
explore professional opportunities and take your
products to market:
Leach Pottery: internationally significant pottery in
St Ives, which works in partnership with Falmouth
to deliver the MA Ceramics course. MyCornwall.tv:
a new internet television company now based in the
Media Centre at Tremough Campus. The Writer:
London’s leading business writing agency (with clients
including Sky, the BBC and HSBC) offers a bursary
each year to one of our MA Professional Writing
students, which also includes hands-on experience
in their offices. Arnolfini: on the waterside in Bristol,
Arnolfini is one of Europe’s leading centres for the
contemporary arts – hosting exhibitions, film, live art,
dance, music and literature – and is a course partner
for MA Performance Writing. Aardman: the film and
television animation company that produced the
Wallace and Gromit series is one of the professional
partners for our new Skillset Short Courses.
