Moffatt & Nichol developed the concept plans for four interisland ferry terminals to service state-owned harbor facilities
on the islands of Oahu, Kauai, Maui and the Big Island of Hawai’i. Moffatt & Nichol provided developed concept plans
for the terminals, which will be used by private ferry operator, Hawai’i Superferry. Moffatt & Nichol identified concepts
that could be delivered according to the operator’s schedule while overcoming complex budgeting and environmental and
permitting challenges.
Mukilteo Multimodal Ferry Terminal

Moffatt & Nichol provided project management, an operations analysis, engineering design, economic analyses, and
environmental services for Washington State Ferries (WSF) for a $152 million ferry terminal and multimodal center on
Puget Sound. Moffatt & Nichol is managing a team of 16 subconsultants and is also assisting in stakeholder interaction
for the project. The civil scope includes an extension to the state highway, an internal roadway, site grading, drainage,
paving and utilities, and structural scope includes overhead passenger loading, a concrete pier, and floating dolphins.
