C.S.�= <strong>Career</strong> Skill. Programs with this designation prepare<br />

students through a combination of classroom, laboratory,<br />

and clinical/work site experiences.<br />

Courses are offered in the morning and afternoon. Students<br />

may elect to enroll in the a.m. (8:25 - 10:50) or<br />

p.m. (12:15 - 2:40) session.<br />

Students attend two – 174 day terms to complete those<br />

programs.<br />

A $100 deposit is due upon enrollment—balance paid in full<br />

or financial aid on file at least one week prior to the first<br />

class meeting to avoid possible forfeiture of deposit, and<br />

removal from the course roster.<br />

Most classes run 174 days (1 school year) and meet Monday<br />

through Friday.<br />

#907 Computer <strong>Technology</strong>v�(C.S.)<br />

As a Cisco Networking Academy, this challenging, hands-on<br />

course will provide students with an opportunity to train primarily<br />

in the areas of PC support and network administration, working<br />

toward CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) certification.<br />

In addition to advanced training in networking, second-year<br />

students may choose to work towards certification in other areas<br />

within the Information <strong>Technology</strong> field: Network+, MCP, A+, etc.,<br />

preparing for entry-level jobs in I.T. Students will be exposed to<br />

a variety of other topics, such as Windows XP, Windows 2003<br />

Server, Linux and MS-DOS. Prerequisite: Keyboarding. Exposure<br />

to Microsoft Office application is highly recommended. $100<br />

deposit due upon enrollment—balance paid in full or financial<br />

aid on file at least one week prior to the first class meeting<br />

#906 Landscape Horticulturev�(C.S.)<br />

This course is designed to provide knowledge and practical<br />

experience in the care and identification of ornamental plants<br />

(flowers, trees and shrubs). Activities include starting plants<br />

from seeds and vegetative plant parts; greenhouse operation;<br />

drawing landscape plans; floral design; pruning practices; lawn<br />

establishment and care–skills required by professional or amateur<br />

horticulturists. $100 deposit due upon enrollment—balance<br />

paid in full or financial aid on file at least one week prior to<br />

the first class meeting to avoid possible forfeiture of deposit,<br />

#913 Electronics and Alternative Energyv�(C.S.)<br />

This course familiarizes students with electronic circuitry and<br />

construction techniques in direct current, alternating current<br />

and semi-conductors. They will also become familiar with<br />

electronic instruments and test equipment. Students will have the<br />

opportunity to construct an electronics project as an extra activity<br />

(an additional fee will apply to project materials). Familiarity with<br />

Algebra is recommended for students enrolling in this course.<br />

#916 Business <strong>Technology</strong> (C.S.)<br />

This course is designed to help students develop the qualities,<br />

knowledge and skills necessary for working in business. Areas<br />

of study include exploring career opportunities, processing<br />

information through the use of word processing, database,<br />

spreadsheet and presentation software, using the Internet for<br />

e-mail and other office applications, using office procedures<br />

and organizational skills, transcribing business correspondence,<br />

using the electronic calculator to solve mathematical problems,<br />

simulating proper records management procedures and<br />

preparing employment documents. Personal development skills<br />

are integrated throughout the course. Students enrolled in the<br />

second year course will study web page, legal office procedures,<br />

medical office procedures, and accounting. Students will also<br />

participate in the Supervised Business Experience internship for<br />

school credit and paid on-the-job training.$100 deposit due upon<br />

#917 Marketingv�(C.S.)<br />

This first year course is designed to help students learn the basic<br />

concepts and practices of marketing within our society. Students<br />

will gain an in-depth understanding of the many elements of<br />

marketing, business management, and selling. Activities include<br />

the development, pricing, promotion, and distribution of various<br />

types of goods and services. The second year course is ideal for<br />

students who have a career interest in marketing or management.<br />

Students enrolled in this course will also participate in the<br />

Marketing Internship program for paid on-the-job training in a<br />

marketing occupation. This program may be customized to meet<br />

individual needs. $100 deposit due upon enrollment—balance<br />

#921 Computer Programming (C.S.)<br />

This class is an introduction to the discipline of programming using<br />

Visual Basic programming language in a Windows environment.<br />

The course will include data types, control structures, arrays,<br />

functions, properties, event methods, menus, dialog, and other<br />

topics as time permits. Course meets for one hour per day.<br />

$100 deposit due upon enrollment—balance paid in full or<br />

financial aid on file at least one week prior to the first class<br />

meeting.
