Treat all customers the way you want to be
treated, and provide them with the level of
service you expect. I always encourage my staff
to try to involve customers in the resolution of
their complaints and empower them to
help find a solution. Customers tend
to feel more relaxed and more likely
to walk away satisfied when they feel
in control of their situation. No one
likes to feel as though situations are
beyond their control.

I would like to tell you
about Linda Brigham, Proctor
& Gamble merchandiser at
Quantico Commissary, Va.
Linda is an exceptional
individual. She is one of those
people you know in your heart
you can always rely on. No
matter what event, no matter
Linda Brigham
what sale or product, Linda
makes herself available to whatever our needs
may be. She builds displays, pushes product, and
works a demo like no other. She assists patrons,
employees and management. No project is ever
too much for Linda. I cannot stress enough how
very fortunate we are to have her at our store.
On Tuesday, Oct. 20, Linda was called to
assist in a very personal way. An elderly female
patron was calling for assistance from the ladies’
restroom. The woman, small, frail and barely
able to get around with her walker, found herself
unable to take care of her soiled clothing. Linda
graciously offered her assistance.
What a huge heart she has. She is a loving
wife, mother and grandmother; but even more
impressive is the fact that she also cares for
her 105-year-old mother-in-law. She tends to
neighbors, co-workers and strangers alike.
I would like to recognize Linda for all that
she gives to so many on a daily basis. Her
presence makes a world of difference at
Quantico Commissary.

We had a customer who wanted a certain
low-salt potato chip that we had carried
previously, but it was no longer on the sales
floor. The company representative happened
to be standing next to me on the sales floor
when this gentleman approached and gave
me his request. The representative gave him
product information and assured him that we
would be carrying it in the future, and that
the next time he came in, there would be a
complimentary bag for him. He left our store a
very happy man.
