Sarafin Cortez, sales store technician, is far
and away the best employee at Patch Barracks
Commissary, Germany. He is consistently friendly,
efficient and fast. He helps the baggers so customers
can get on their way quicker. He is extremely
respectful to every customer, and he knows his
business. I go out of my way to go through his lane
when I check out. He is the model for others to copy.
I have shopped at commissaries my entire life – 50
years – and he’s in the top 1 percent I have seen.

Calif., for employing store associate Maria
“Yhoyie” Espirita. Every time I go to the office
to request help or I have a problem with the cash
register accepting my debit card, Ms. Maria is so
cordial and helpful. She always has a warm smile on
her face. This lady is a wonderful troubleshooter and
customer service representative, and she has been so
every time I needed help in the past one and a half
years. If I still had my small business, I would try to
hire her away from you.

I have shopped at practically
all commissaries around the
world; however, none measure up
to North Island Commissary,
Calif. I shop here nearly every
day, and the shelves are always
well stocked; each department
offers outstanding quality, variety
and freshness; displays are
appealing to the eye, with sales Thomas Testerman
prominently marked; and the
store is impeccably clean, with easy access – most
comforting. Last but not least, is customer service –
courteous, above and beyond, with an “ask and you
shall receive” attitude. Energy and teamwork among
the staff permeate the atmosphere. It’s evident that
under the leadership of Store Director Thomas
Testerman, employees are inspired to give their
very best. I have friends who travel to North Island
Commissary from other towns to shop here. Please
know how grateful I am to have the privilege to shop
here.

England, about the store and the requirements for me

to use it. Ricky
came back
straight away
and provided
me with the
information I
needed. He also
volunteered
to escort me
and my family
if we had any
problems
getting on the base. He was friendly and helpful prior
to our arrival, then he made himself and his deputy,
Janice Johnson, available to us during our visit.
These two representatives made our trip down from
Scotland very enjoyable and stress-free – and as
your slogan says, they made it “worth the trip.” Ricky
and Janice’s enthusiasm was evident in the friendly,
helpful staff throughout the commissary.

Lackland Commissary, Texas. Petra Martinez
and Belinda Connell, store associates, do an
outstanding job helping customers select produce.
Every time I shop at the commissary, these two ladies
not only help me, but also all the other customers,
selecting the best fruits and vegetables. We are very
lucky to have dedicated employees like this, who go
out of their way to assist service members and their

For Rose Barracks Youth Services, we send a

and Michael Maier in the bakery at Vilseck
Commissary, Germany. Thanks to their continued

National Kids’ Day has been a huge success, and the
cake was delicious and beautifully decorated. Vilseck
