Nasal resistance is a nominal value for nasal patency. <strong>Rhino</strong>manometry<br />

is a simple test to detect and quantify impairments<br />

and is mainly used in the field of otorhinolaryngology:<br />

• Recording of nasal resistance<br />

• Diagnosis and quantification of nasal dysfunctions<br />

• Effective control of physiological or drug therapy<br />

• Nasal provocation<br />

• Post surgical checkup<br />

The new <strong>Rhino</strong>manometry program is our answer to inquiries<br />

of otorhinolaryngologists, allergologists, pulmonologists and<br />

pediatricians regarding measurement and assessment of nasal<br />

airway resistance. The <strong>Rhino</strong>manometry program uses<br />

Active Anterior <strong>Rhino</strong>manometry (AAR), which is independent<br />

of patient breathing. The method records choanal pressure<br />

via a flexible nasal adapter and flow via a firmly attached<br />

mask.<br />

However, MasterScope <strong>Rhino</strong> offers even more. The optional<br />

Spirometry/Flow-Volume measurement program allows to determine<br />

static and dynamic lung volumes.<br />

If needed, MasterScope <strong>Rhino</strong> can be upgraded to measure<br />

airway resistance (R occ ), respiratory muscle strength (Pimax)<br />

and respiratory drive (P 0.1 ).<br />

The data can be displayed on printer or screen in preset or<br />

user adjustable reports.<br />
