Very perfect example and in splendid condition. The top is fine medium<br />

grain spruce. Stradivarius model. Varnish a fine golden red. Scroll and<br />

all parts entirely original. It's tone is mellow, large and brilliant, a perfect<br />

solo violm.<br />

Cremona 1764.<br />

One <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> most charming violins in appearance and tone that we have<br />

ever seen. It resembles closely No. 524 Nicolaus Bergonzi, 1761, sold by us<br />

some years ago. The beauty <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> top is exceptional, <strong>the</strong> back is in two<br />

pieces, very interesting in workmanship. The varnish is <strong>of</strong> a rich deep reddish<br />

brown. Tone <strong>of</strong> great depth, broad and rich, very responsive and satisfying.<br />

In tone and appearance we consider it <strong>the</strong> best specimen <strong>of</strong> that great maker<br />

we have ever seen.<br />

Landolphus was <strong>the</strong> last <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Italian makers who used <strong>the</strong> characteristic<br />

Cremona Varnish and <strong>the</strong> appearance <strong>of</strong> this specimen and its magnificent<br />

tone, prove its close relationship to <strong>the</strong> celebrated Cremona School.<br />

Its tone is powerful, clear and mellow, and so flexible and sensitive, that<br />

delicate shading and beautiful pianissomos are produced with ease and certainty,<br />

which are impossible in most violins. Two-piece maple back, handsome<br />

figure, sides and scroll matching, top ideal violin spruce, varnish a<br />

lovely golden amber.<br />

with <strong>the</strong> best Lupot violins. Beautiful one-piece back, original scroll, top <strong>of</strong><br />

exquisite grain, tone broad, full, rich and sonorous; a violin suitable for<br />

This violin possess <strong>the</strong> characteristics <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Gagliano family. The material<br />

is very handsome, <strong>the</strong> outline F's and swell are strictly original, and<br />

do credit to this great member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Gagliano family. His finish is much<br />

hke <strong>the</strong> Guarnerius Del Gesu, <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> last period, full <strong>of</strong> chic and evidence<br />

<strong>of</strong> a great master's hand. The tone is broad and mellow and delightful to<br />

play on. The color <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> varnish is pale amber and <strong>of</strong> excellent transparency.<br />

art <strong>of</strong> violin building, has a one-piece back, nicely figured, <strong>the</strong> gram in <strong>the</strong><br />

top is very distinct, well selected to harmonize with <strong>the</strong> balance <strong>of</strong> violin,<br />

<strong>the</strong> tone is suitable for first-class concert work, has a combination <strong>of</strong> brilliancy<br />

and <strong>the</strong> same time has a mellow effect.<br />

This is <strong>the</strong> best Kloz violin we have. It is so much like Stainer in every<br />

detail that <strong>the</strong> best experts have" pronounced it a genuine Stainer. Aegidius<br />

Kloz used Stainer's label which is still in <strong>the</strong> violin, also his own. 1 he violin<br />

would be suitable for a lady, <strong>the</strong> tone is sweet and very responsive, equal<br />

and mellow. Exquisite workmanship with a thin varnish <strong>of</strong> light amber<br />

This is a beautiful specimen <strong>of</strong> Kloz and perhaps <strong>the</strong> best Sebastian Kloz<br />

we have owned. Has a nice figured two-piece back; <strong>the</strong> scroll is well executed<br />

like most <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kloz violins; it has a thm varnish pale amber m color,<br />

has had much use and in a perfect preservation; very charming F holes; <strong>the</strong><br />

finish shows <strong>the</strong> hand <strong>of</strong> a master in <strong>the</strong> art <strong>of</strong> violin budding would make<br />

an excellent solo violin, well balanced, can shade or swell <strong>the</strong> tone with <strong>the</strong><br />

slightest efifort.<br />

A very .beautiful specimen <strong>of</strong> this Tyrolean violin maker's work. This<br />

member <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Kloz family is known as Sebastian II, and was a son <strong>of</strong><br />

Aegidius Kloz, This viohn in tone is one <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> most remarkable in our<br />

collection and is sure to increase in price as this maker's works become<br />

better known. The tone is <strong>of</strong> that limpid, sweet quality that has made <strong>the</strong><br />

great Italian makers famous. Stradivarius pattern. Wood carefully selected<br />

varnish, warm dark amber color.<br />
