guard-plate, white spruce top and is nicely'varnished and finished. The tone is
very rich and sweet, eminently pleasing for home and practice use, and we guarantee

of eleven ribs, fancy solid rosewood and mahogany, white strips between ribs,
white holly edge, fancy wood inlaying around edge and soundhole, solid rosewood
fingerboard, pearl dots, fancy inlaid tortoise celluloid guard-plate, rosewood veneered
head, nickel tailpiece, our own patent head, varnished polished by hand to a very
high finish. This Mandolin has an unusual quantity and quality of tone, so that it
can be used for any shade of power and expression, having great sweetness, much

DESCRIPTION OF OUR SOLO MANDOLIN. This Solo Mandolin is full size, 24
inches long, 7J^ inches wide, 5j4 inches deep; length of body, 12 inches; Sj^-inch
fingerboard, 17 frets. Body has 23 ribs of genuine fancy-figured rosewood; whitewood
strips between each rib; solid rosewood apron and side straps; real mahogany
head and neck; rosewood veneered head-front; ebony nut, fingerboard and bridge;
black button American patent heads; nickel shield covered tailpiece; front of body
select straight-grained resonant spruce. Front edge is ornamented with three rows
black wood strips, also a wide inlay of mixed white pearl and black wood pieces laid
oblique. Tortoise shell guard-plate inlaid with fancy butterfly and four-leaf clover
of colored pearl; sound-hole trimmed with white and black strips and a wid.; band
