TASK FORCE 12-‐01 Reference 12’-‐15’ 21st Century Leadership Academy: Developing Future Leaders Task Force Members: Bill Havice, DTE Co-‐Chair -‐ whavice@clemson.edu Roger Hill Co-‐Chair -‐ rbhill@uga.edu Charge: This is a program designed to create tomorrow's most successful and respected technology and engineering leaders, consultants, and strategic thinkers. As leaders, we need to create the future. This program incorporates knowledge and experiences from education leaders and other experts using practical and innovative advice on how leaders make a difference. Participants will be involved in important dialogue using the best wisdom from experts and practitioners across sectors. The aim of this program is to help technology and engineering educators gain additional skills to better deal with issues of performance, how systems and associations work, the role of finance in decision-‐making, and how to merge ideas and ambitions in a positive manner. The 21CLA program will provide a balance of practical and inspirational ideas to individuals who want to be leaders in the association and profession. Potential Tasks include: • Identify and foster the growth of a core of emerging leaders in the technology and engineering education profession • Provide emerging leaders with professional leadership training in areas such as organizational structure, politics of education, volunteer recruitment, publicity, and the ability to articulate a cohesive vision of the technology and engineering education professions. • Energize emerging leaders to return to their states and provinces and influence others from within and outside the technology and engineering education profession. • Form professional alliances Conclusion: The Task Force began discussions in March of 2012 5
TASK FORCE 12-‐02 Reference 12’-‐15’ Developing and Implementing a High School Engineering Design Contest Task Force Chair: Gary Wynn, gwynn50@gmail.com Task Force Members: Dan Larochelle: Intelitek Charge: Continue developing a higher profile of the profession by means of showcasing technology and engineering education student achievement through student contests Potential Tasks include: • Identify achievements being currently showcased locally and nationally etc. SKILLSUSA • Identify other existing programs that we could partner with • Identify potential partnerships in recognizing student achievement • Identify and examine examples of other successful student recognition • Catalog potential benefits and reasons for profiling student achievement • Develop a list of student role models (technology and engineering education alumni who have become successful following graduation) • Identify Audiences Conclusion: Task Force began discussions in March 2012 6
