300 cubic meters of sludge was removed from both tanks and about<br />

650 tons of steel was disassembled, which was sent to a steel melt<br />

to be melted after cleaning.<br />

All work occurred under the precise consideration<br />

of all work and environment protection<br />

requirements. After completion of the<br />

disassembly work, the foundation area<br />

underneath the two tanks was restored in<br />

early 2010.<br />

The leader of the operation, Erich Theda,<br />

and his six-man team are satisfied with<br />

the results. “It stuck out that the degree of<br />

contamination of the gas tanks was considerably<br />

higher than it was for comparable<br />

jobs”, according to Theda. The satisfaction<br />
