The retirement of an employee New Buchen
Manager

Gerhard Röttgen
In January 2010, Gerhard Röttgen,
who has helped forming the Buchen
Group for 43 years and has been
the manager for 24 years, decided
for his well-deserved retirement.
He maintained and lived the company and
service thought of “We at Buchen … provided
services for our customers for mutual
benefits” like no other in the company. In a
successful cooperation with Wolfgang Balter
for nearly 35-years, both named mangers
in 1986 by Richard Buchen, Gerhard Röttgen
led the company through five changes
of control in this time, while the number of
employees grew from 30 to around 2,300.
What the Buchen Group has been dealing
with since 1966, how it moves and what it
has started could not have been possible
without Gerhard Röttgen.
In addition to his tasks as the manager of
the Buchen Group, Gerhard Röttgen also
influenced a lot of other things. He was
a founding member and member of the
board for the Federal Association for Special
Waste Management and a member of
the executive committee and chairman of
the Special Waste Management committee
after the fusion with the Federal Association
for German Waste Disposal.
His diverse tasks included work in the Industrie-Müllverband
Köln-Aachen (since 1968)
for the creation of a special waste dump
for this region, cooperation in the SNW
special waste disposal for the usage of the
RZR Herten and activities in the AAV Waste
disposal and cleanup operation for North-
Rhine Westphalia.
On January 29, 2010, Gerhard Röttgen
left with a festive party in Cologne at the
Buchen headquarters and thanked all employees
from the Buchen Group for their
good cooperation, who then in turn thanked
the senior manager in multiple speeches.

“We at Buchen”.
We wish Gerhard Röttgen all the best for
the next phase in his life.
On February 1, 2010, Carsten Lange
began his activity as the manager of
the Buchen UmweltService GmbH.
After 15 years of experience in a leading
function in the special waste disposal department,
the last of which were as the general
manager and regional director North/
East at the REMONDIS Industrie Service in
Leipzig. Carsten Lange is looking forward
to the new challenges and the diverse scope
of tasks in the Buchen Group. Carsten Lange
was initially responsible for the Buchen regions
west and east. In the middle run, the
42-year-old married father of two daughters
would like to move to Cologne with his family
and has already made Cologne his second
home during the week.
