NAFDAC seized “fake drugs and unwholesome products”
worth N70 million (USD $450,000) in Sokoto state and arrested
over 400 culprits.
NAFDAC sealed 10 pharmaceutical outlets in Ekiti State for
alleged sale of fake drugs and other unethical practices.
Lagos State Task Force on Counterfeit, Fake Drugs, and
Unwholesome Processed Foods sealed 20 illegal drug stores and
arrested 5 illegal operators.
NAFDAC arrested 30 medicine dealers, including pharmacists,
who allegedly were involved with the sale of fake and
substandard drugs.
NAFDAC seized unregistered and counterfeit medicines worth
more than N100 million (USD $632,000) at Okrika and Eleme
local government areas of Rivers State.
In Anambra State, NAFDAC destroyed N280 million (USD
$1.77 million) worth of fake and counterfeit products, including
fake medicines, cosmetics, and food products.
During Truscan surveys, NAFDAC seized various categories of
fake and substandard medicines worth over N50 million (USD
$316,000).
In a study carried out by the University of Lagos, 13
representative brands of artesunate/amodiaquine were sampled
from various outlets in Lagos. Results of testing showed that
