Covering All the bases for Sustainable
Asset Performance
Presenters: Berk Borrett, Catalyst Paper Corporation
& Eric Wegscheider, Ivara
Intermediate
This session will illustrate how Ivara EXP Enterprise and the Ivara
Work Smart implementation methodology, coupled with SAP
EAM, supported an optimal approach to asset performance
improvement by bringing together, in a cohesive offering, solutions
to three distinct problems. Implementation at Catalyst
Paper’s four mills is highlighted.
At the tactical level, identify and quickly resolve immediate and
obvious problems with methodologies such as RCA (Root Cause
Analysis). Analytical tools such as Weibull analysis, Life Cycle Cost
modeling and others can be applied to quickly identify opportunities
for immediate performance optimization.
At the sustainable execution level, implement a comprehensive
proactive reliability program across the asset base — from failure
mode analysis to integrated condition monitoring and inspection
management; asset and process performance tracking and
alarming to initiation of timely condition-based work (the right
work at the right time) driven by EXP, managed by SAP EAM.
At the organizational change level, leverage Ivara’s renowned process
and methodology to support and sustain organizational change.
Lessons:
• A balance is needed to support a cohesive and sustainable
transition to proactive asset reliability that drives optimal asset
performance
• The mix and the sequence depend on the organization’s context
and priorities
