After more than forty years Dr. Harvey Cushing’s list of Vesaliana demands an upgrade.
The present list combines the Vesaliana of Cushing with titles gathered by R. Calcoen and
newly found earlier and more recent ones. They are arranged in alpha-numerical order
while the list retains the already existing numberings.

Après plus de quarante années il y a lieu de compléter les Vesaliana de Harvey Cushing.
La liste présentée ici donne les Vesaliana des deux listes de Cushing avec les titres
rassemblés par R. Calcoen, ainsi que ceux qui sont retrouvés ultérieurement et les plus
récents. La nouvelle liste est établie dans un ordre alpha-numérique tout en sauvant les
numérations existantes.
INTRODUCTION
To the best of my recollection, it was Dr. Johan VAN ROBAYS, pathologist at the ZOL-
Hospital in Genk (Belgium), who drew my attention to the importance of an inclusive list of
Vesaliana. Our initial meeting in Roeselare, on Monday the 26th May 2003, was to discuss the
feasibility of creating a Vesalius Society in Flanders. As a result of this meeting, the idea of
compiling all existing Vesaliana into one list was brought into fruition.
