portfolio containing a reconstruction of the lost original drawings for the series of<br />

fourteen muscle figures illustrating the second book of Vesalius’s De humani corporis<br />

fabrica (1543). The eight front and six back views have been reversed from the published<br />

originals and assembled to demonstrate the continuity of the background scenes which form<br />

two landscape sequences as originally envisioned by the artist. A twenty page introductory<br />

pamflet accompanies the plates.<br />
