PRIDE THROUGH SUCCESS
ENRICHMENT
I'd like to introduce myself to anyone who has not
come across me so far, and let you know about my
exciting new role within the Academy. Officially my
title is Deputy Curriculum Leader for Enrichment,
Enterprise and Employability. My main role is to
make sure that all students participate in enjoyable
and engaging Enrichment activities, that being
anything that happens beyond the normal
curriculum such as extra-curricular clubs. This
process is underway and I hope you are pleasantly
surprised by the amount of opportunities our staff
are already providing beyond their lessons. In the
centre of this newsletter you will find a timetable of
activities which you can pull out and have available
to look at. I'm sure we already have something that
will be of interest to your sons and daughters, but

ROCK CHALLENGE
This year we will be entering a piece based on the town’s
fishing history. The students have already visited the
fisherman’s museum to research the topic and we will be
doing some site-specific work down at the beach in the
coming weeks. If you know of anyone or have yourselves
any fishing items such as nets, buoys or anchors we would
love to use these for inspiration or as part of what we hope
will be another award-winning set! Rock Challenge will be
on Thursday 29 March 2012 so make a note in your
12 diary early!
rest assured there will be more around the corner
which I will keep you informed of. It is also
massively important that we attempt to find an
activity to suit all tastes, and although I will be
seeking out many students to
ask them their views I would
openly welcome any of them to
come and find me and make a
request. Hopefully any student
who has already attended a
club has found it an enjoyable
and rewarding experience, and
to those who have yet to do
so, take a look at the timetable
and give it a go!

EXCITING NEWS
We have found out that through the
Get Set network, the St Leonards
Academy has secured an allocation of
free tickets to the 2012 Olympics. At
the moment we don’t know how many
tickets or what events we can attend.
We want your ideas about how we can
consider allocating these tickets. Year 7
students are going to make suggestions
but we would love your ideas.

CHRISTMAS CABARET
The Christmas Cabaret
Show will be held on
Thursday 8 and Friday
9 December at 7.00pm
in the Main Hall at the
Edinburgh Campus. It
will be run by the GCSE
and BTEC Dance groups in association
with Clic Sargent to raise awareness and
funds for this worthwhile cause.
