This is to advise your Agricultural Quarantine Department to take the following
precautionary measures to guarantee the country's territories free of the peach fruit fly on
account that it is viewed as a dangerous quarantine insect:
- Prohibit import of mango from countries where this fruit fly infections spread (Saudi
Arabia, Lebanon, Oman, Palestine, the Indian Subcontinent, Indonesia, Iran, Sri Lanka,
Pakistan and particularly Egypt).
- Tight measures banning travelers from carrying these fruits and destroying them and
prevent their spread.
- Careful check of dispatches containing (citrus, peaches, guava, etc.) and verify they
are free of the subject infection, and apply quarantine measures thereon (cooling, radiation,
or other available means), provided that the technique followed in this quarantine be
mentioned in the Agricultural Health Certificate (additional item) included along with the
agricultural dispatch and on the liability of the exporting country.
- Preparation of a weekly report on fruit dispatches suspected of being infected with
the above mentioned fruit insect.
