These buildings are not alike and those differences reveal the differences in watchmaking philosophy. The Blancpain Le Brassus farmhouse has not been conceived like a factory and its design shows that it is not meant to be used like one. 08 | 09 When it was acquired in 1982, the Le Brassus farmhouse was meant to symbolize Blancpain’s joinder in more than 200 years of Vallée de Joux watchmaking traditions. Historically, watches were not made in factories. There were no fluorescent lit, cantilevered antiseptic facilities with assembly line methods. Watches were handiworks of artisans who labored in attics, farmhouses, small family dwellings. Each watch was a highly personal creation of the man who lovingly fashioned it.
