On behalf of the Village of Skokie, I wish to
extend to you and your organization congratulations on
the celebration of its Centennial.
As you are aware, Skokie is an appropriate place on
which to hold your celebration. Many of the Village's
early settlers were from Luxembourg and they founded
Section 15 here, in 1905. The membership roster of
Section 15 read like a Who's Who of the Village, as many
of its members were Village officials, including two
Mayors and several Clerks and Trustees.
As a native of Evanston, I have my own personal
familiarity with the L.B.A. as my father, Albert Smith,
Sr., was a member of Section 8.
Please accept my heartiest congratulations on the
Centennial of the L.B.A. Please extend to their Royal
Highnesses my personal regards and thank them for
gracing our Village with their presence.
