school in Lemont, Illinois and in 1968 began his novitiate. In 1973, he graduated from St. Mary's Seminary, Perryville, Missouri and was ordained a priest on June 4, 1977. Following his ordination, he returned to Lemont and was Director of Admissions for the Vincentian Seminary program. In 1983, Jay was assigned to DePaul University as a counselor, and in May of this year was appointed a Provincial Consultor for the midwest province. His duties include advising the very Reverend John Gagnepain, C.M. midwest Provincial, on all aspects of the Vincentian order. Jay's Luxembourg roots were well represented in the L.B.A.. His grandfather, Matthias Jung was a member of Section 3 and his uncle, Nicholas Jung, is a member of Section 8. During this period, the Section met quarterly, at the various homes of its members. In the late 1970's, the Section initiated dinner meetings with spouses and continued to support the activities of the Grand Lodge, most notably the 1973 visit of Bishop Hengen, the 1976 visit of the Grand Duke and the 1984 state visit of the Grand Duke and Duchess to Chicago. It was noted at the outset of this essay that it was intended as a celebration of the accomplishments of the men who comprised the Section's membership for the last 82 years. The reasons for joining an organization are as varied as there are grains of sand on a beach. Some of these men were proud of their Luxembourg heritage. Others sought the companionship of their Luxembourg friends or the business and political contacts that membership could provide. Unfortunately, many of those listed in the roster of members joined only for a year or two and dropped out. Others, while maintaining their membership, very seldom attended or participated in the affairs of the Section.
