President's Message
When our forefathers founded the Luxembourg
Brotherhood of America, perhaps they pondered
whether this organization would still be in existence
100 years later. They have not been disappointed.
From a simple idea, the Luxembourg
Brotherhood of America has grown to the largest
Luxembourg organization in America. Thanks
to the many members who have put untold time
and energy into this fine fraternal organization.
Without the dedication of excellent leaders and
loyal members, no organization can survive.
My father, Stephen Heinz, joined Section 8
in 1928, soon after immigrating to this country.
He became a very active member, involving himself
in all of the parties and Kirmeses the Section
sponsored. He served as Trustee for many years,
until his death in 1955.
Because of my strong Luxembourg heritage,
I was always among the Luxembourg people.
As my father did, I joined Section 8 of Evanston,
Illinois when I was sixteen years old. Since that
time, I have been very active with all the Luxembourg
clubs, organizations, and the Brotherhood.
In 1965, at the Luxembourg Gardens in Morton
Grove, Illinois, I attended the 45th Bi-Annual
Convention as a delegate from Section 8. At that
convention, I was nominated and elected the
fourteenth President of the Luxembourg Brotherhood of America. Since then, I have attended all
the meetings, conventions, and functions connected with this organization.
I wish to thank all the Grand Officers, the officers of the various Sections, and all the
members of the Luxembourg Brotherhood of America for making my tenure as President a most
enjoyable one. Also, I would like to give special mention to my wife, Doris, who has supported
me throughout my presidency. A very special thank-you to Dick Witry for taking on the
monumental task of editing this historical book. Many precious hours and untold research have
gone into its publication. This book will serve as a reminder to all future generations of their
heritage and how their forefathers participated in the Luxembourg community.
I take great personal pleasure in saluting the Luxembourg Brotherhood of America during
its Centennial Year. I wish for its continued success and offer my best wishes to the future officers
and members of this wonderful organization. It is my fervent hope that the sons and grandsons of
the present membership will celebrate, one hundred years from now, the Bi-Centennial of the
Luxembourg Brotherhood of America.
