Membership in the Corporation shall consist of three (3) classes:<br />

(a) Active. Active members shall include persons in editorial staff positions<br />

with general or specialized commercial turf and ornamental publications,<br />

freelance writers, and technical writers. Specifically excluded from<br />

eligibility for active membership are those whose primary responsibilities<br />

are in advertising, circulation, production or other non-editorial functions<br />

for commercial magazines.<br />

(b) Affiliate.<br />

1. Persons engaged in editorial, photographic, public relations,<br />

advertising, or non-commercial publications/newsletters whose work<br />

is directly related to the turf and ornamental industry; and<br />

2. Those involved in federal and state governmental agencies,<br />

educational institutions or non-profit institutions and foundations<br />

doing business in the turf and ornamental industry.<br />

(c) Honorary Life. Honorary Life membership may be granted to those who<br />

have rendered distinguished service to the Corporation and/or to the turf<br />

and ornamental industry. Such membership must be approved by a<br />

majority vote of the membership, following investigation and<br />

recommendation by the Membership Committee. Honorary members<br />

shall have all rights and privileges of Active and Affiliate members.<br />

Nominations for this class of membership must be submitted in writing at<br />

least sixty (60) days prior to the Corporation’s annual business meeting.<br />

Section 3. Membership Applications.<br />

All applications for membership must be in writing on forms obtained from the Executive<br />

Director. Membership approval, classification and reclassification shall be the<br />

responsibility of the Membership Committee. A membership challenge can be appealed<br />

to the Board of Directors for final decision. Members who assume new duties or<br />

different positions are required to notify the Executive Director and to submit their<br />

resignations or request reclassification.<br />

Section 4. Membership Dues. Membership dues shall consist of annual dues and<br />

shall be assessed on an annual, calendar-year basis. There will be no dues for Honorary<br />

Life members. Any changes in membership dues must be approved by majority vote of<br />
