– Pull out the shift rails and swing the shift forks aside.<br />

– Pull the shift roller out of the bearing seat.<br />

– Remove the shift forks.<br />

NOTE: During disassembly, watch out for the shift rollers 1 on the<br />

driving pins of the shift forks. They may remain in the shift roller.<br />

Although the counter shaft shift forks are identical they should be refitted<br />

in the same position as before if reused. Therefore mark accordingly upon<br />

removal.<br />

– Remove the 2 pressure springs 2 from the <strong>engine</strong> case.<br />

– Pull the drive shaft together with the countershaft out of the bearing<br />

seats.<br />

– Remove 1 st -gear idler gear 3 with needle cage and the two stop discs<br />

from the <strong>engine</strong> case.<br />

Dismounting the crankshaft<br />

– Pull crankshaft from the bearing seat (if necessary, use a plastic<br />

hammer and tap carefully on the crankshaft journal).<br />

– Remove O-ring from crankshaft.<br />

– Clean all parts and check for wear, replace if necessary.<br />

NOTE: When an <strong>engine</strong> is completely overhauled it is recommended that<br />

all gaskets, shaft seal rings and O-rings are renewed.
