Ignition (SEM)<br />
General information<br />
The measurements described below will only reveal severe problems. Coil<br />
short circuits leading to weak ignition sparks or low generator output,<br />
respectively, can only be detected with the help of an ignition test bench.<br />
In the case of malfunction always check the cables and the plug and<br />
socket connections of the ignition system first.<br />
Make sure to select the correct measuring range when performing<br />
measurements.<br />
Spark plug<br />
– Set the electrode distance.<br />
Electrode distance: 0.60 mm (0.024 in)<br />
Insulator<br />
Check for cracks and fissures.<br />
! CAUTION !<br />
ALWAYS USE A SPARK PLUG WITH RESISTOR. OTHERWISE PROBLEMS CAN OCCUR IN<br />
THE CDI UNIT.<br />
Check stator (SEM)<br />
Perform the following measurements with an ohmmeter.<br />
+ Pole – Pole Resistance<br />
black red 1,7 kΩ<br />
black green 165 Ω � 20 Ω<br />
green red 1,7 kΩ<br />
yellow yellow 1,0 Ω<br />
5-14C<br />
NOTE: The measuring must be performed at a temperature of 20° C.<br />
Otherwise significant deviations must be expected.<br />
Replace the stator if the measured values deviate significantly from the<br />
setpoint values.
