second-straight win over UMBC, a game that was aired live<br />
across the nation on ESPNU.<br />
Lawrence is the seventh head coach in <strong>Hartford</strong>’s Division I<br />
his<strong>to</strong>ry. In his first season he led the <strong>Hawks</strong> <strong>to</strong> more wins than<br />
they had in the previous two years combined.<br />
Lawrence began his coaching career as an assistant at Whittier<br />
College, where he directed the Poets’ defense in their<br />
first two seasons of NCAA competition. Whittier, during and<br />
after his tenure, was able <strong>to</strong> become a Top DIII program.<br />
He spent one season as an assistant for the club team at the<br />
University of New Hampshire, guiding the Wildcats <strong>to</strong> a Pioneer<br />
League Championship and a berth in the national <strong>to</strong>urnament.<br />
Lawrence then spent three seasons as head coach<br />
at Elmira College where he led the Soaring Eagles <strong>to</strong> an<br />
overall record of 8-6 in 2005, only the fifth winning season<br />
in school his<strong>to</strong>ry. Lawrence has had the privilege of coaching<br />
many Canadians over his career, including seven who have<br />
gone on <strong>to</strong> play in the NLL.<br />
Lawrence is the owner of Trashcan Lacrosse, a company specializing<br />
in lacrosse camps, clinics and travel teams. In addition<br />
<strong>to</strong> Trashcan Lacrosse, Lawrence directs Powell Brothers<br />
Lacrosse Camps and GameBreaker Lacrosse camps. He<br />
travels extensively over the summer while running camps in<br />
Georgia, Oregon, California, New Jersey and Connecticut.<br />
He has also conducted live field demonstrations at the 2006<br />
& 2007 US Lacrosse National Convention.<br />
In the summer Lawrence is still active, playing in summer<br />
leagues and various <strong>to</strong>urnaments. In 2007 he won the PVLL<br />
with the Glas<strong>to</strong>nbury Whalers and still plays with the team<br />
every summer. He has competed in the Glas<strong>to</strong>nbury <strong>to</strong>urnament<br />
as well as the Placid <strong>to</strong>urnament in recent years. He<br />
has won the last four Placid open division championships<br />
playing with Graph-Tex.<br />
A standout player at Roanoke College and a member of<br />
<strong>to</strong> its 2008 Hall of Fame class, Lawrence led the Maroons<br />
<strong>to</strong> three straight NCAA Division III Tournament appearances.<br />
He was a three-time all-conference selection and a two<br />
time All-American selection, and in 1998 he was named<br />
Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the Year. He<br />
also played in the North-South All-Star Game that same<br />
year. After graduating from Roanoke College in 1998 with<br />
a bachelor’s degree in health and physical education, Lawrence<br />
was drafted by the MLL’s Bridgeport Barrage in the<br />
league’s inaugural season (2001).<br />

West <strong>Hartford</strong> with his wife<br />
Meghan and their children,<br />
