person for the purpose and under the condition that that<br />

person will erect and maintain thereon a dwelling-house for<br />

occupation by him;<br />

(g) sell, let or otherwise dispose of land acquired or appropriated<br />

by such local authority, to any person for the purpose and<br />

under the condition that that person will erect and maintain<br />

thereon such number of houses as may be determined by such<br />

local authority in accordance with plans approved by it.<br />

(2) Nothing in subsection (1) shall authorise the disposal of land<br />

by a local authority, whether by sale, lease or otherwise, in breach of<br />

any trust, covenant or agreement binding upon the local authority.<br />

(3) Subject to such conditions as may be prescribed by the<br />

Minister, a local authority may advance money to any person—<br />

(a) to enable him to repair, reconstruct, enlarge or improve<br />

a dwelling-house occupied or intended to be occupied by<br />

him; or<br />

(b) to enable him to reconstruct, whether on land provided<br />

by such local authority or otherwise, a dwelling-house for<br />

occupation by him; or<br />

(c) to enable him to acquire for occupation by him any dwellinghouse.<br />

(4) The Minister may make rules regulating the making of<br />

advances under subsection (3) and in particular—<br />

(a) for prescribing the nature of the security to be taken by the<br />

local authority in respect of any advance;<br />

(b) for requiring a valuation to be made of the property the<br />

subject of any such advance;<br />

(c) for prescribing the maximum proportion of the value of any<br />

property which may be advanced under the said subsection<br />

on the security thereof;<br />

(d) for prescribing the rate of interest to be paid on such<br />

advances;<br />

(e) for prescribing the method of repayment of such<br />

advances;
